Heyo! My name is Anurag. I’ve worked in the game industry for about 9 years now and I’ve probably made some things you’ve played! I’m a pretty experienced game engineer/designer and I wanted a place to catalog my thoughts on games, design, engineering, the industry and more. Currently I work at Riot Games but any and all of the opinions/thoughts I share on here are my own and do not reflect upon my employer, and nothing I say here will be indicative of anything that is being worked on, though I may post a few reflections with permissions from our community managers.
Prior Work
The things you’d know me for are probably primarily Teamfight Tactics, which I’ve been a gameplay engineering lead on for quite a while. Some things I’ve led included Tocker’s Trials, Set 11, and as a tech designer Set 8.5. I have a passion for both design and engineering, and I consider myself a game developer before any specific discipline.
Before that I worked at Niantic making some nifty contributions to Pokemon Go, and Marvel World of Heroes.
And wayy before that I worked at a company called Seismic Games making “Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run” contracting for Disney. AKA the Millenium Falcon Ride at Disney parks in Galaxy’s Edge. If you’ve ever heard of Wookiee mode that was me! (with our awesome lead designer at the time).
If you haven’t here’s a little treat if you’re visiting the parks with 6 people. Would mainly recommend this if you’ve already been on the ride. Go twice in one visit if you want! The line is hella short.
Steps to Activate Wookiee Mode:
- For Pilots: Push your control stick ALL the way up/down or ALL the way left/right while hitting the big power up button (the big orange one)
- For Engineers/Gunners: Hold one of your white panel buttons near the bottom of your panel while hitting the big power up button.
- If EVERYONE does this (like all 6 seats), you’re in for a surprise ;).
Why Omniscient Bean?
It’s sort of a play on omniscient being. As a kid I had a fixation on beans being the funniest vegetable, mainly cus its a dumb word. The idea of an all knowing bean was hilarious to me and sort of became one of my tags. Overflow is the other one I commonly use as a tag, but people constantly assume that one is due to 1. engineering or 2. hentai sooo i kind of wanted to avoid it. Anyway it worked out because I am very weird coffee person. Like own several hundred dollars (maybe thousands?) of coffee equipment.
